Job summary

Referment is representing a world-class hedge fund in New York to hire a Senior Desktop and Workplace Engineer. You will be the senior escalation point, owning complex problems across endpoints, identity, connectivity and trading applications for front-office users.

You will influence incident response, coordinate with MSPs and internal teams, and drive permanent improvements in onboarding, device management and automation.

Qualifications

• > Seven years of experience in desktop, workplace, end-user or systems engineering, including Tier 3/senior escalation.
• < Expert troubleshooting across Windows 10/11 in enterprise environments.
• < Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
• < Strong experience with Active Directory, Entra ID and Group Policy.
• < Hands-on with endpoint management tools like Intune, JAMF and SCCM.
• < DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN and firewall concepts.
• < Experience working with MSPs, SLA management and escalation handling.
• < PowerShell scripting and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• < Ability to diagnose cross-system issues with clear communication to tech and business users.
• < Ownership mindset and ability to drive complex incidents to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior technology escalation point for the New York office.
• Provide expert support to portfolio managers, analysts, traders and senior corporate users.
• Resolve complex issues spanning endpoints, applications, identity, connectivity and workplace technology.
• Oversee the MSP’s day-to-day delivery and ensure issues meet expected standards.
• Step in directly for particularly complex, urgent or business-critical incidents.
• Investigate problems across Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, JAMF, SCCM, VPN and SaaS apps.
• Diagnose issues affecting Bloomberg, market data platforms and order/execution systems.
• Coordinate vendors, MSP and internal tech teams to full resolution.
• Collaborate with Network, Security and Cloud Platform engineers on root-cause analysis.
• Improve onboarding/offboarding, device management and hardware lifecycle processes.
• Support office moves, hardware refreshes and app deployments.
• Develop automation using PowerShell and contribute to repeatable workplace engineering.
• Create and improve runbooks, knowledge articles and escalation criteria.
• Identify recurring problems and address root causes.
