Job summary

Austin Commercial is seeking a Senior Design Manager for the Phoenix, AZ division to lead design services on a multi-billion dollar semiconductor project. The role requires coordinating with builders and designers, managing budgets, and ensuring timely approvals in alignment with the project schedule and contracts.

Qualifications

• 10-15 years of diverse commercial design and construction program experience with participation in alternative delivery (Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMaR).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture or engineering preferred.
• Understanding of Design/Build, CM at Risk, Design-Bid-Build, IPD, Lean, etc.
• Ability to understand and communicate project deliverable requirements defined by contracts and owner criteria.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day design services.
• Administer designer's agreement including invoices and change orders.
• Manage design budget and change orders.
• Ensure design packages meet trade bid requirements and project schedule.
• Oversee delivery of milestones per contract and standards.
• Collaborate with Builder and Designer to minimize RFIs and change orders.
• Drive timely responses to owner design review comments.
• Review constructability issues from document reviews by Build team.
• Support PM and Field staff on schedules, compliance, and cost impacts.
• Facilitate submittals and RFI reviews.
• Define WBS and design/bid package scopes and milestones.
