Job summary

AssemblyAI is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to own the craft and feel of the product experience end to end. You will design and build the interfaces developers use, from the Playground to the dashboard, and ensure visual quality and usability scale with the product.

A strong design background paired with frontend engineering ability is essential for shaping AI-native interfaces that feel intuitive and polished.

Qualifications

Portfolio of shipped product work demonstrating design taste and craft.
UX and visual design ability from concept through high fidelity.
Proficiency in Figma and managing shared component libraries.
Frontend engineering skills for production interfaces in React and TypeScript.
Fluency with AI-assisted design and development for AI-native interfaces.
Comfort operating with ambiguity and owning outcomes end to end.

Responsibilities

Own the visual and interaction design of core product surfaces and implement in production React/TypeScript.
Set UX quality benchmarks across the product, including motion and hierarchy.
Turn rough ideas into polished, high-fidelity experiences and prototype quickly.
Shape and steward design system and visual language for scalable quality.
Collaborate with engineering and marketing on direction, not just execution.
Leverage AI tooling to design and ship faster.
