Job summary

AssemblyAI is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to own the craft and feel of our product experience end to end. You will design and build the interfaces developers use, from the Playground to the dashboard, ensuring every detail aligns with a high standard of UI/UX and performance.

You’ll lead with design, marrying strong frontend engineering with a deep understanding of AI-assisted design to ship polished experiences.

Qualifications

Strong portfolio of shipped product work showing real design taste and craft.
Genuine UX and visual design ability from concept through high fidelity execution.
Deep proficiency in Figma, move from low to high fidelity and maintain shared component libraries.
Solid frontend engineering skills, comfortable building production interfaces in React/TypeScript.
Fluency with AI-assisted design and development for AI-native interfaces.
Comfort operating with ambiguity and owning outcomes end to end.

Responsibilities

Own the visual and interaction design of core product surfaces, then build them in production React/TypeScript.
Set the bar for UX quality across the product: interaction states, motion, hierarchy, details.
Turn rough product ideas into polished, high-fidelity experiences and prototype quickly.
Shape and steward the design system and visual language as the product grows.
Partner with engineering and marketing on direction, not just execution.
Use AI tooling to design and ship faster while maintaining quality.
