Job summary

AssemblyAI is hiring a Senior Design Engineer to own the craft and feel of our product experience end to end. You’ll design interfaces developers use, from Playground to dashboard, and ensure every detail looks and moves with intention.

You lead with design and weave engineering into execution, shaping interactions, motion, and information density. This cross-functional role partners with engineering, marketing, and sales to ship polished experiences.

Qualifications

• A strong portfolio showing taste and craft.
• UX and visual design ability from concept through high-fidelity execution.
• Fluency with AI-assisted design and development.
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and owning outcomes end to end.

Responsibilities

• Own the visual and interaction design of core product surfaces and implement in production React/TypeScript.
• Set UX quality bar across the product, including motion, hierarchy, and density.
• Turn rough ideas into polished, dev-ready designs and prototypes to test direction.
• Shape and steward design system and visual language as product grows.
• Partner with engineering and marketing on direction, not just execution.
• Leverage AI tooling to design and ship faster.
