Job summary

AssemblyAI is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to own the craft and feel of the product experience end to end. You will design and build the interfaces developers interact with, from the Playground to the dashboard, and define how everything looks, moves, and feels.

You will lead with design, engineering it directly in production, caring about details like interaction states and motion. This role requires collaboration with engineering, marketing, and sales to ship a polished experience.

Qualifications

Portfolio of shipped product work demonstrating design craft.
UX and visual design ability from concept to high-fidelity.
Proficiency in Figma from low to high fidelity; maintain component libraries.
Frontend engineering skills in React and TypeScript.
Fluency with AI-assisted design and AI-native interfaces.
Comfort operating with ambiguity and owning outcomes end to end.

Responsibilities

Own the visual and interaction design of core product surfaces in production React/TypeScript.
Set UX quality across the product: interaction states, motion, hierarchy.
Turn rough ideas into polished, high-fidelity experiences; prototype quickly.
Shape and steward design system and visual language as product grows.
Partner with engineering and marketing on direction, not just execution.
Use AI tooling to design and ship faster.
