Job summary

The City of New York seeks a Civil Engineer for the Division of Bridges, responsible for coordinating design, construction, and maintenance activities on major East River bridge projects. You will interface with Design/Planning and in-field teams to monitor progress and ensure compliance with standards.

Required four years of civil engineering experience and a New York State Professional Engineer license; master’s may substitute for one year of experience.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of full-time civil engineering experience.
• New York State Professional Engineer license required; valid registration maintained for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Design/Planning and field construction activities.
• Monitor performance of private consultants and contractors.
• Evaluate design reports, calculations, plans, and schedules for complex projects.
• In-person inspection of field conditions and project progress as needed.
• Prepare technical specifications for Design-Build and Emergency Contracts.
• Represent the division with agencies, utilities, and the public on technical matters.
