Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, seeks a Civil Engineer 2 to manage field inspections, perform structural analysis, prepare design plans, and coordinate repairs with DOT units and contractors on bridges and related structures.

Requirements include four years of civil engineering experience (a master's may substitute for one year), proficiency with AutoCAD, Acrobat and MS Office, and a NY driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time civil engineering experience.
• A master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Experience in bridge design, construction, maintenance, or inspections preferred.
• Strong AutoCAD, Acrobat, and MS Office skills.
• Must be able to drive a city vehicle and have NY driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field visits to identify deficient structural conditions.
• Perform structural analysis and prepare design plans and repair protocols.
• Maintain an up-to-date record of outstanding repair requests and coordinate with DOT units.
• Review preliminary (capital) drawings to ensure future maintainability.
• Sign and seal engineering documents and supervise subordinate staff.
