City of New York is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to perform civil engineering work under general supervision in the East River Bridges program. The ACE will focus on inspections and overseeing contractor maintenance, conducting field surveys, and preparing design plans and drawings.

The role requires a civil engineering degree path (bachelors, with or without masters) and a valid New York driver’s license.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of fulltime satisfactory experience in civil engineering work
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering technology and three years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university

Responsabilités

• Perform inspections and oversee preventive maintenance work by contractors.
• Conduct field surveys and prepare design plans, sketches, working drawings, maps, and technical specifications.
• Engage in investigations and studies pertaining to bridge inspections; ensure safety and governmental standards are maintained.
