Job summary

Hornblower Corp is seeking a Senior Deckhand to supervise deck crew, stand bridge watch, and take command in emergencies. You will ensure guest hospitality and vessel safety while supporting the engine room and maintenance teams.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 months as a deckhand, a valid TWIC and driver's license, and the ability to work weekends and holidays in a fast-paced maritime environment.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma is required.
  • Valid TWIC Card or ability to obtain.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Copy of DD214 if Veteran status.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Minimum three (3) months experience as a Deckhand.
  • Willing to work weekends and major holidays.
  • Submit to USCG testing as mandated.

Responsibilities

  • Assign deck crew tasks and provide direction.
  • Stand bridge watch and assist in safe navigation and maneuvering of the vessel.
  • Take command if captain becomes incapacitated.
  • Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the vessel.
  • Load or unload materials from vessels.
  • Handle lines to moor vessels to pier when necessary.
  • Stand watch to identify obstructions or navigational aids.
  • Provide assistance to Engineer to operate and maintain ship equipment.
  • Escalate mechanical or maintenance issues to the Director of Marine.
