Job summary

University of California DigIT seeks a Senior Oracle & SQL Server Database Administrator to provide technical leadership for enterprise databases hosted in AWS. Primary focus includes migration, high availability, backup, and performance tuning across Oracle, SQL Server, and related platforms.

The role supports 24x7 production environments, with remote work within California and on-call rotation as needed. Minimum 8 years in database administration and a strong foundation in AWS services are

Qualifications

Min 8 years of relevant experience in database and applications management.
Advanced knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) with depth in Oracle and SQL Server databases.
Experience implementing enterprise-grade HA, DR & Replication (SQL Server Always On, Oracle GoldenGate).
Knowledge of migrating SQL Server databases from on-prem to AWS RDS.
Proficiency in performance tuning across database, OS, and storage layers; experience with AWR/ASH/ADDM, DMVs, and indexing.
Strong problem solving, communication, and organizational skills; ability to multi-task.
Ability to work independently and in a team on complex technical projects.

Responsibilities

Formulate and maintain procedures, standards, and best practices for Oracle/SQL Server DB management across environments.
Design and execute migrations, upgrades, and patching with minimal downtime.
Lead assessment and migration of databases within AWS (EC2, RDS).
Apply advanced DBA concepts to design, implement, and administer enterprise-grade databases with high availability and security.
Lead performance tuning, including SQL tuning, indexing, and configuration across DB/OS/storage layers.
Develop technical studies, health assessments, and reports for management and staff.
Document tasks, standards, and runbooks for team use.
Design and maintain GoldenGate infrastructure for real-time replication.
