Job summary

Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support enterprise SQL Server and Oracle environments for a federal civilian customer. This remote role requires the ability to obtain Public Trust clearance and to mentor junior DBAs while ensuring security, performance, and availability.

The Senior DBA will lead migrations to AWS, maintain BC/DR procedures, and partner with cross-functional teams to support system releases and changes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
• Expert-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
• Experience leading enterprise deployments, upgrades, or migrations.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level administration and performance tuning for SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Lead design, deployment and support of highly available database architectures (Always On, clustering, replication).
• Oversee migration of on‑premises databases to AWS (RDS, EC2, GovCloud).
• Own backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures with RTO/RPO validation.
• Enforce database security controls per NIST SP 800-53 and security policies.
• Monitor performance and capacity; resolve bottlenecks affecting mission applications.
• Mentor junior DBAs and produce technical documentation and diagrams.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams on releases and change management.
