Job summary

CookUnity is hiring an ML-focused Data Scientist to own retention and churn in a weekly subscription model. You will predict at-risk customers, drive interventions, and power personalized experiences to keep customers ordering and win back churned ones.

Work cross-functionally with Product, CRM, Marketing, and Engineering. Responsibilities include building churn models, defining uplift-driven experiments, and owning the full model lifecycle from development to production with robust MLOps

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years in data science, applied ML, or statistics.
• Retention/churn depth: prediction and lifecycle modeling in subscription contexts.
• Causal & experimentation rigor: uplift measurement and A/B testing.
• End-to-end ML & MLOps: production models, CI/CD, monitoring, retraining.
• Strong Python and SQL; code hygiene and reproducibility.
• Excellent collaboration with Product/CRM/Marketing to turn models into decisions.
• BS in a quantitative field; MS/PhD preferred.
• Ability to leverage generative AI to increase output quality.

Responsibilities

• Churn & retention modeling: build at-risk flags and lifecycle state models.
• Intervention & reason understanding: design targeted retention actions.
• Resurrection & win-back: develop propensity models to bring churned customers back.
• Personalization & Next-Best-Action: choose actions per customer with uplift measurement.
• Offer & promo optimization: decide incentives to maximize retained revenue.
• Production & MLOps: own the model lifecycle, monitoring and drift handling.
• Experimentation & incrementality: design experiments to measure true impact.
