Join Wayfair’s Operations Analytics team in Boston as a Senior Data Scientist focused on long-term, high-complexity planning and business case work. You will build models, run sensitivity analyses, and translate findings into tools and recommendations that help optimize the fulfillment network and operational improvements across a multi-year horizon.

In this hybrid role, you’ll work with a small, high-impact team supporting multiple groups under the operations umbrella, with a focus on Fulfillment, Planning, and Analytics. The work is highly iterative and responsive to evolving operational needs, giving you room to apply strong quantitative skills to decisions that matter.

What you’ll do

• Partner within a small but high-impact team delivering analytical support across operations groups, especially Fulfillment, Planning, and Analytics.
• Design and maintain strategic models, then package results into concise, actionable recommendations for cross-functional and senior stakeholders.
• Use SQL, Python, and spreadsheet modelling to build tailored sensitivity analyses that identify and address business value opportunities.
• Develop tools and dashboards that surface critical insights to support data-driven decision-making.
• Operate in a fast-paced, highly iterative environment aligned to the changing needs of operations functions and strategies.
• Drive strategic decisions on if, when, and where to open new Fulfillment Centers and Home Delivery Operations nodes, optimizing both network speed and cost across a 5+ year horizon and across multiple FC functions.
• Lead analytical modelling for operational improvements within Fulfillment Centers, including areas such as trailer unloading, carton putaway, pick efficiency, large parcel assembly, and more.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, or a related discipline with a strong academic record.
• Experience in an analytics or data science role performing quantitative analysis and delivering actionable recommendations from findings.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, including knowledge of aggregate functions and joins.
• Hands‑on experience and comfortability with Python for data manipulation, analysis, and modelling.
• Fluency in using gen-ai coding tools (e.g., cursor) as a force multiplier, built on strong foundational coding and analytical knowledge.

In-office policy

All Boston‑based interns, co‑ops, and corporate employees will work in a hybrid capacity. Employees will be in the office on designated days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with remote work on the other 2 days of the week.

Compensation: USD 121,000 - 132,000 per year.
