Job description

Wayfair is hiring for a Data Scientist I role in Boston with a hybrid schedule (4 days in office Monday to Thursday, 1 day remote Friday).

Responsibilities

• Build scalable analytics products using SQL, Python, and G-Suite visualization platforms including LookerStudio and Looker
• Enable leadership and internal customers to understand and manage performance, including forward-looking models evaluating strategy impact on fulfillment activities, resourcing, and costs
• Develop automated infrastructure in Google Cloud Composer to load and transform data, run models or analytical frameworks, and refresh front-end dashboards
• Conduct statistical analysis on large data sets to generate performance insights and forward-looking projections for business outcomes
• Enhance demand forecasting models to reflect new business strategies that drive specific demand patterns
• Create segment-level performance projections to provide end-to-end visibility into company trajectory across operational KPIs
• Define data structures to support scalable monitoring of CG inventory performance against key KPIs (turns, availability, penetration, positioning) and support adjacent teams consuming the data
• Share findings with stakeholders from computer science, operations research, and business backgrounds

Requirements

• MS in a quantitative field (Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Economics) with a strong academic record
• Ability to bring structure to complex and often ambiguous data and modeling problems
• Strong daily working proficiency with Python and relational databases (SQL), with a proven track record of insight development that leads to action
• Comfort working with large data sets to identify trends, drill into details, and make recommendations to deliver desired outcomes
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritize projects and tasks to achieve results
• Innovative problem-solving and tenacity to develop ideas independently in a fast-paced start-up environment
• Interest in solving complex supply-chain business problems from problem definition through business-case development and implementation
• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by Wayfair now or in the future, including STEM OPT EAD, H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, O-1, J-1, or TN

Salary Range

• $91,500 - $104,000 per year

Location and Work Schedule

• Boston, MA
• 4 day in-office expectation: Monday - Thursday
• 1 day remote: Friday
