Job summary

Best Buy is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to lead complex analytical projects in Network Modeling & Optimization. You’ll own and improve supply chain network models, working hands-on with a small team to drive business planning and strategic decisions.

You’ll mentor analysts, translate business questions into modeling problems, and deliver actionable insights on facility location, product flow and costs. Hybrid work schedule in Richfield, MN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of data science or optimization experience.
• 4+ years leading complex analytical projects.
• 4+ years hands-on experience with SQL, Python, R and optimization tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain analytical inputs and optimization models for facilities, transportation lanes and product flows.
• Evaluate strategic scenarios involving facility location, network assignments, and inventory placement.
• Validate model behavior, diagnose data-quality issues, and communicate assumptions and tradeoffs.
• Translate business questions into structured modeling problems and define objectives and constraints.
• Mentor Data Scientists and analysts, establishing reusable modeling practices and quality controls.
• Support complex network modeling projects from definition through recommendation.
