The Home Depot is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to lead analytics initiatives, help advance our analytics infrastructure, and leverage data science as a competitive advantage.

You will work across teams to apply optimization, computer vision, recommendations, search, and NLP to drive profitability and customer experience. Ideal candidates will have PhD in a quantitative field or 6+ years in BI/analytics, strong Python/SQL skills, and expertise with Tableau and Google BigQuery.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field and 6+ years of analytics experience.
• 6+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proficient in a modern scripting language (Python).
• Proficient running queries against data (Google BigQuery/SQL).
• Proficient with data visualization software (Tableau).
• Mastery of statistical techniques to identify key insights for business problems.
• Proficient in Prescriptive Modeling like optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP.
• Experience in predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• 35% Solution Development—design and develop models to derive business insights from large datasets; communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders; prepare progress reports.
• 30% Project Management & Team Support—define goals, prioritize work, mentor juniors, and assist in workload/resource planning.
• 20% Business Collaboration—translate business needs into analytics solutions; build trust with internal customers and cross-functional teams.
• 15% Technical Exploration & Development—continue learning, codify data products, document processes, and contribute reusable algorithms.
