Job summary

Amazon Last Mile Strategic Planning is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to design and implement mathematical and statistical models that optimize the Delivery Network Topology. You will partner with business leaders and technical teams to drive value, leveraging ML and LLMs to explain results and guide strategic decisions.

You will mentor researchers and influence across teams, producing clear design and technical documentation while managing multiple high-impact projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of data scientist experience.
• 3+ years of data querying languages (SQL) or scripting languages (Python) or statistical software (R, SAS, Matlab).
• 3+ years of ML/statistical modeling, data analysis tools, and performance-impacting techniques.
• 1+ years of guiding and coaching a group of researchers.
• 1+ years working with or evaluating AI systems.
• 1+ years creating instructional content (textbooks, papers).
• Master’s degree in STEM or equivalent STEM experience.
• Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mathematical, statistical and optimization models to optimize Delivery Network Topology design.
• Manage several high-impact projects simultaneously.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define optimization opportunities.
• Communicate data-driven insights through technical and business papers.
• Leverage LLMs to improve explainability and engage stakeholders.
• Define measurement frameworks for optimization solutions and own the scientific framework.
