Job summary

Amazon Last Mile Strategic Planning seeks a Senior Data Scientist to develop optimization models for the Delivery Network Topology and cost-to-serve optimization. You will partner with scientific and technical teams to design solutions and influence leadership with data-driven insights.

You will guide multiple high-impact projects, mentor researchers, and translate complex analytics into business-friendly narratives, driving improvements across speed and cost in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of data science experience.
• 3+ years SQL or Python or statistical software experience.
• 3+ years ML/stat modeling tools and techniques.
• 1+ years leading researchers or teams.
• 1+ years evaluating AI systems.
• Master's degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
• Experience applying theoretical models in practice.

Responsibilities

• Design mathematical, statistical and optimization models for Delivery Network Topology.
• Manage multiple high-impact projects concurrently.
• Collaborate with business/technical stakeholders to define opportunities.
• Communicate data-driven insights through papers and presentations.
• Leverage LLMs to improve explainability and stakeholder engagement.
• Define measurement frameworks for novel optimization approaches.
• Select methods and justify trade-offs; ensure rigorous evaluation.
• Bridge analytics with production by partnering with engineering teams.
