Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer on the Data & Performance Enablement team. You will help design and implement platforms for distributed event streaming, owning features for database, messaging, and data warehousing platforms.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with customer teams, and shape the technical roadmap. The role involves on-call rotations, mentoring, and contributing to scalable data models while delivering high-performance, data-intensive applications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applicable experience.
• Strong experience with messaging platforms (Kafka/Redis).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Proficient in at least one scripting language (Bash or Python).
• Solid experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure or AWS).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain key components of our data platform automation for provisioning, backups, and user management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance and reliability issues in our data systems, often serving as an escalation point for the team.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve data streaming services, security, scalability, and automation.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support the team's critical services.
• Mentor junior engineers on the team, providing guidance on database administration, query optimization, and DBRE principles.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap by researching new data technologies and proposing innovative solutions.
