Job summary

Thrivent is seeking a data engineer who will drive data-driven outcomes by building robust data pipelines and data warehouses. You will work independently and with teams to design, implement, and optimize data flows that power enterprise analytics and reporting.

The role emphasizes collaboration, DevOps practices, and the development of reusable components while aligning with Thrivent’s data strategy and governance standards. Remote-friendly in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Applied Computer Science, MIS, CS, or a related field.
• 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as a data engineer, specialist or consultant or closely related occupation.
• 3 years of experience with IICS and Snowflake.
• 2 years of experience with Databricks.
• Experience with data warehouse modeling using STAR schema and building reusable analytics components.

Responsibilities

• Apply technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers.
• Develop core software delivering stability, scalability, and resilience.
• Collaborate in team sessions to solve problems and decompose work.
• Define engineering standards, patterns, templates, and frameworks with the team.
• Lead DevOps improvements, CI/CD adoption, and production reliability.
