Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to lead the next phase of healthcare data platform modernization. You will evolve from MSSQL XML object stores toward a scalable AWS data architecture that enables analysts to run SQL-based reports against healthcare data seamlessly.

The role requires strong AWS data services experience, SQL/XML proficiency, and collaboration with a C#/.NET backend team.

Qualifications

8+ years of software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus.
Experience architecting cloud data platform migrations in production.
Proven ability to select AWS data services to meet reporting needs.
Experience delivering analytics for non-technical users.
Hands-on AWS data services experience and SQL/XML proficiency.
Experience with XML-heavy data stores and ETL/ELT patterns.
Ability to evaluate trade-offs and communicate architecture decisions.
Familiarity with BI tooling and AWS analytics services.
Proficiency with Git, CI/CD, and IaC tooling.

Responsibilities

Lead the healthcare data platform modernization effort.
Evolve from MSSQL XML object stores to cloud-native AWS architecture.
Decide AWS data strategy and optimal storage/query options.
Design a reporting layer for SQL queries over healthcare data.
Architect migration of XML object store data to AWS platform.
Build and maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata.
Optimize query performance and cost across AWS services.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into data models.
Coordinate with .NET backend engineers for data flows.
Implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS tooling and IaC practices.
