Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience in software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus
• Proven experience architecting cloud data platform migrations in production environments
• Track record of evaluating AWS data services to meet reporting requirements
• Experience delivering analytics solutions for non-technical users
• Hands-on AWS data services knowledge: S3, Athena, Glue, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch
• Strong SQL skills for relational queries over XML/JSON
• Experience with XML-heavy data stores and migrations
• Ability to evaluate AWS data service trade-offs by cost and performance
• Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., QuickSight) and CI/CD practices in AWS
• Experience with Git/GitHub, IaC (CDK/CloudFormation/Terraform)
• Strong communication of architecture decisions to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to translate business reporting needs into technical data models
• Comfort driving ambiguous architecture decisions to resolution
• Experience with Agile/Scrum/Kanban and JIRA
• Strong documentation habits (diagrams, data dictionaries, runbooks)

Responsibilities

• Lead the next phase of healthcare data platform modernization
• Evolve from MSSQL XML object store to a scalable AWS data architecture for SQL-based reporting
• Evaluate AWS data strategy and storage options (S3 + Athena, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch)
• Design and build a reporting layer for business users to run SQL queries against healthcare data
• Architect migration of XML object store data into AWS platform with optimal formats and partitioning
• Build and maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata for discoverability
• Optimize query performance and cost across AWS services through partitioning and tunings
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate reporting needs into durable data models
• Coordinate data flows from EDI pipelines into the new data layer
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS-native tools (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy)
• Apply IaC using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
• Document architecture decisions and data dictionaries for technical and non-technical audiences
