Job summary

Axion in San Francisco is hiring a Senior or Staff Software Engineer to lead our agile backend teams. You’ll design scalable agentic systems, build backend services and data-processing workflows that transform unstructured customer data into reliable outputs.

You’ll help shape the architecture of our APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and LLM-powered and agentic systems while improving their reliability, observability, and performance.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and operating production backend or data-intensive systems.
• Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts.
• Experience designing distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, and reliable data-processing services.
• Experience deploying and operating containerized applications on a major cloud platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve scalable AI powered systems that move, transform, and enrich data across products.
• Partner with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Own the reliability and delivery of cloud-native services, including deployment, observability, scalability, and production support.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-team technical initiatives from architecture through production.
