Job summary

Axion in San Francisco is seeking a senior Software Engineer to architect and scale the agentic systems at the core of the Axion platform. You will own design decisions that determine how our agents reason, act, and integrate with enterprise data, working closely with Engineering and Product leadership.

The role emphasizes building data-intensive, non-deterministic systems with strong emphasis on reliability, observability, and production-grade design.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience building agentic systems (LLM orchestration, tool/function calling, multi-step reasoning).
• Experience designing distributed data-intensive SaaS platforms.
• Fluency with non-deterministic, LLM-driven systems and observability.

Responsibilities

• Own technical architecture for agentic systems (orchestration, memory, retrieval, evaluation).
• Build and harden reasoning layer from ingestion to root-cause insight at scale.
• Establish testing and evaluation for non-deterministic systems using ground truth.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product to shape technical vision and roadmap for the agent platform.
• Mentor engineers on agentic patterns and system design.
