Job summary

Axion seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead our backend teams. You will design scalable backend services and data-processing workflows that transform complex, unstructured customer data into reliable, structured outputs.

You’ll shape the architecture of APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and LLM-powered systems while improving reliability and performance. You’ll work with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical direction,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts
• Experience designing distributed systems and asynchronous workflows
• Experience deploying and operating containerized applications on a major cloud platform
• Experience with production LLM systems is a bonus

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve scalable AI powered systems that move, transform, and enrich data across products
• Partner with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
• Own the reliability and delivery of cloud-native services, including deployment, observability, scalability, and production support
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-team technical initiatives from architecture through production
