Job summary

SHI is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join SHI One within the Advanced Solutions Group. You will analyze, design, and develop data engineering and ETL solutions, coordinating with customers and internal stakeholders to drive outcomes.

You will help establish a new data engineering practice, set standards, and mentor team members while leading end-to-end data architecture initiatives across data sources and warehouses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or related work experience.
• Minimum 10 years' experience developing data applications, relational databases, and ETL platforms.
• Experience building highly available and testable ETL systems that support critical business operations.
• Expert knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing.
• Expert knowledge of SQL scripting.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage shifting priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work independently or in a team-oriented setting.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
• Strong problem prevention and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Help drive our data strategy, including data model designs and data warehouse management.
• Coach team members through code and design reviews to ensure quality and standards.
• Deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions and maintain a high standard of technical excellence.
• Collaborate with development teams, stakeholders, and customers for smooth data system operation.
• Support a data engineering environment focused on developer experience, testing, and integration.
• Suggest improvements to ETL processes and data architecture for efficiency and reliability.
• Lead creation of technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and visualizations for teams.
• Review data architecture best practices with team members.
