Job summary

Upperline Health, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead the architecture and evolution of the application data layer within enterprise-scale systems.

You will collaborate with React/TypeScript engineers, security teams, and platform engineers to design secure, scalable data services and APIs that power value-based care workflows. Responsibilities include modeling identities, telemetry, and event data, driving data governance, and ensuring low-downtime deployment and robust performance

Qualifications

• Strong experience architecting and operating production data layers
• Advanced SQL and relational modeling for transactional workloads
• Experience designing APIs and data-access layers (REST/GraphQL) with contracts and versioning
• Experience with Redis caching and observability tooling
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect and identity architectures
• CI/CD and cloud-based data pipelines automation
• Collaboration with frontend engineers (React/TypeScript) and backend teams
• Experience with secure-by-design and data governance practices

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and evolution of the application data layer, schemas, and storage strategies.
• Design data models supporting concurrency, auditability, and performance.
• Model identity, authentication, and authorization data with security teams.
• Define telemetry models for events, usage, errors, and performance with privacy controls.
• Design and implement application APIs and data services with clear contracts.
• Establish caching and state management strategies (Redis) and observability.
• Oversee database performance, indexing, and migration safety.
• Collaborate across Product, Application, Security, and Platform teams.
• Lead architecture reviews and communicate tradeoffs clearly
