Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own 3-5 data domains end-to-end, operate hundreds of pipelines, and drive architectural improvements that influence AWS leadership decisions.

You will partner with service teams to design data contracts, build ingestion flows, and deliver analytical models for the entire organization. The ideal candidate is a technical leader who thrives in ambiguity, has SQL/ETL expertise, and hands-on experience with AWS

Qualifications

7+ years of data engineering experience.
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
Experience with SQL.
Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
Experience mentoring team members on best practices.
Experience with MPP databases such as Amazon Redshift.
Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.

Responsibilities

Identify limitations and opportunities in data processing tools and drive improvements.
Define and own data architecture at the team level with security, scalability, and cost considerations.
Produce exemplary, secure and maintainable code scalable for customers.
Define and own infrastructure architecture for data management and automation.
Solve complex, ambiguous problems by designing cross-domain data models.
Split project work into parallel tasks and drive to completion.
