Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle seeks a Data Engineer to own major portions of our data architecture, building scalable pipelines, data models, and contracts with source systems to enable self-service analytics across AWS services.

You will partner with engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure, and cost-efficient data solutions, mentor peers, and contribute to on-call reliability and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• 3+ years developing and operating large-scale data structures for BI analytics using ETL/ELT processes.
• 3+ years of SQL experience.
• 5+ years analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
• 3+ years of OLAP data modeling experience.
• Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements and describe data modeling decisions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve data quality issues in processing tools.
• Build and optimize logical data models and data pipelines for difficult datasets.
• Make appropriate technical trade-offs at the dataset level.
• Produce high-quality code that is secure, maintainable, and understandable.
• Contribute to infrastructure decisions within the team's data architecture.
• Solve difficult problems by designing data models that integrate multiple sources.
• Break down project work into tasks and collaborate effectively with peers.
• Mentor peers, participate in hiring, and share knowledge.
• Drive data engineering best practices and establish SLAs and self-service access to data.
• Drive improvements through code reviews, design discussions, and operational reviews.
• Participate in on-call rotation and own the reliability of data systems.
