Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Data Engineer for the AWS Analytics Engineering organization to own major portions of the data architecture, build scalable pipelines, and deliver high-quality data models for self-service analytics.

You will work with stakeholders across AWS to enable data contracts, optimize ingestion, and drive AI/ML-enabled analytics at scale, while upholding security and cost considerations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• 3+ years of developing and operating large-scale BI data structures for ETL/ELT and SQL.
• 5+ years analyzing data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.
• 3+ years of OLAP data modeling experience.
• Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve data quality issues in processing tools, contribute to improvements and innovation, and ensure best practices in pipelines you design and maintain.
• Build and optimize logical data models and data pipelines for difficult datasets, ensuring testable, maintainable, and efficient solutions.
• Make appropriate technical trade-offs at the dataset level, balancing short-term and long-term needs.
• Produce high-quality code that is secure, maintainable, and understandable by engineers unfamiliar with the system.
• Contribute to data architecture decisions and manage resources for stable, performant solutions.
• Solve difficult problems by designing data models that integrate multiple sources and exploring new analytics capabilities.
• Break down work, deliver independently, and collaborate with peers on shared dependencies.
• Mentor peers, participate in hiring, and contribute to team knowledge-sharing.
• Drive data engineering best practices, automate processes, and improve self-service data access.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, planning, and operational reviews.
• Take part in on-call rotation and own operational health of data systems with monitoring and runbooks.
