Job summary

McKinsey & Company’s Life Sciences AI team, integrated with QuantumBlack, is seeking a senior software engineer to build AI that transforms Pharma and MedTech. You will design, deploy, and scale data pipelines and analytics platforms in collaboration with global teams across the Life Sciences sector.

Based in North America, you will lead technical workstreams, mentor colleagues, and contribute to R&D projects while delivering production-ready solutions that drive real-world impact for patients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, or adjacent technical roles.
• Proficiency in Python for production-grade pipelines, with strong skills in SQL and PySpark.
• Experience building end-to-end data pipelines and platforms for Agentic AI, Generative AI, ML, or BI.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal, CI/CD for data workflows, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience with vector databases, low-latency serving, and deploying across AWS/Azure/GCP.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and deploy differentiated analytics and agentic solutions for Life Sciences commercial use cases.
• Transform pilots into production-ready systems that reshape end-to-end workflows.
• Own technical platform for advanced analytics; build scalable, reproducible data pipelines for ML and agentic apps.
• Lead technical workstreams, mentor junior colleagues, contribute to R&D and internal assets.
• Collaborate with Agile teams of data scientists, engineers, and industry experts to unlock data potential.
