Job summary

McKinsey & Company’s Life Sciences AI team, integrated with QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to build AI that transforms Pharma and MedTech from one of our North American offices. You will partner with global teams to deliver differentiated analytics across high-value commercial use cases and productionize pilots into scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in computer science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics, engineering, or AI.
• 5+ years of deep technical experience in ML, knowledge graphs, agents, evaluation frameworks for agentic outputs, graph neural networks, deep learning, computer vision and statistics.
• Strong programming in Python with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow/Keras, LangChain, LangGraph.
• Ability to write production-grade code and use version control (Git).
• Experience with PySpark, PyData stack, SQL, Databricks, Kedro, Dask/RAPIDS, Docker and Kubernetes; cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Client-facing skills and ability to travel; excellent communication; English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Partner with global teams to create advanced analytics and agentic solutions for Life Sciences use cases.
• Transform pilots into production-ready systems to reshape commercial workflows.
• Develop ML models, design agentic flows, evaluate outputs, and enhance the DS toolkit; mentor juniors.
• Translate analytics into actionable insights for senior stakeholders across projects.
