Job summary

McKinsey & Company, within the Life Sciences AI team integrated with QuantumBlack, seeks a senior data/software engineer to build AI for Pharma and MedTech. You’ll design scalable data pipelines, manage analytics platforms, and mentor peers across Agile teams in North America.

You will own the technical platform for advanced analytics, deploying end-to-end data solutions and coordinating with data scientists, engineers, and industry experts to drive real-world impact for clients and patients.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, analytics, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data/software engineering or related roles.
• Proficiency in Python for production pipelines; strong SQL and PySpark skills.
• Experience building end-to-end data pipelines and platforms for AI/BI use cases.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools and CI/CD for data workflows.
• Familiarity with vector databases; knowledge of low-latency serving is a plus.
• Experience across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Strong foundation in system design, data storage, and reliability of data platforms.
• Understanding of MLOps and LLMOps, with observability tooling exposure.
• Strong written and verbal English communication; ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and deploy differentiated analytics and agentic solutions for Life Sciences.
• Transform pilots into production-ready systems across end-to-end workflows.
• Design and manage scalable data pipelines and secure analytics platforms; lead technical initiatives.
• Mentor team members and contribute to R&D projects and internal assets.
• Lead technical workstreams, collaborate with Agile teams of data scientists and engineers.
• Own technical platform for advanced analytics, map data for hypotheses, prepare data for models.
• Support McKinsey's asset-based consulting with scalable, repeatable data solutions.
• Operate in North American offices within a Life Sciences practice; integrate with QuantumBlack.
