Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to oversee critical electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems across our data centers.

You will drive preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency responses while guiding engineers and vendors to maintain peak facility performance. You will communicate technical details to non-technical stakeholders and coordinate with IT and business leaders on capacity, safety, and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures within SLAs.
• Provide training to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager.
• Create and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to improve efficiency.
• Work outside normal hours for routine maintenance and emergencies.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate with IT and business leaders on projects, capacity, safety, performance and efficiency.
