Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking a senior data center infrastructure engineer to design and implement complex, hybrid data center solutions across on‑premises and cloud environments.

The role focuses on networking, compute, storage, platform and middleware, with emphasis on scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency. You will collaborate with IT partners and vendors to maintain standards and drive modern infrastructure initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data center or infrastructure roles.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs across network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and databases.
• Own technology lifecycle, capacity planning, and SLA adherence.
• Define hardware/software performance standards for scalability and resilience.
• Provide deep technical guidance and vendor partnerships.
• Lead licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter tech.
• Consult IT partners and stakeholders on data center decisions.
• Execute detailed designs for large-scale initiatives with stakeholders.
