Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking a senior Infrastructure Engineer to design and manage complex data center and cloud infrastructure. You will drive architecture across network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and databases while ensuring performance and scalability.

The role requires 5+ years in the field, with a Bachelor's or higher, and involves collaboration with IT partners and vendors to meet SLAs and strategic goals. Hybrid Flex work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs across network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and databases.
• Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning to meet SLAs.
• Define and maintain hardware and software performance standards for scalability and resilience.
• Provide deep technical guidance on emerging technologies and collaborate with vendors.
• Lead licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter technologies.
• Consult with IT partners, stakeholders, and vendors on data center decisions.
• Execute detailed infrastructure designs for large-scale initiatives with IT teams.
• Ensure operational readiness through planning, coordination, and incident resolution.
• Guide during complex production incidents to support rapid resolution.
• Develop standardized engineering guidelines and improve datacenter efficiency.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture to maintain roadmaps and standards.
• Partner with vendors to ensure solutions align with design specs.
• Present new technologies to IT and leadership.
• Mentor engineers with technical direction and knowledge sharing.
