Job summary

Blue Cross NC seeks a senior data center infrastructure architect to design and deliver complex on-premises and cloud infrastructure, spanning network, compute, storage, platform, middleware, and database components.

You will partner with IT leadership, vendors, and service partners to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost effectiveness, while mentoring engineers and guiding licensing and capacity planning. This role offers hybrid work and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree is required.
• 5+ years of experience in related field; 7+ years if no degree.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs supporting network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database solutions.
• Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning to ensure infrastructure capabilities meet SLAs.
• Define and maintain hardware and software performance standards for scalability, resilience, and operations.
• Serve as an infrastructure SME, guiding vendors and emerging technologies.
• Lead licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter technologies.
• Consult with IT partners, stakeholders, and vendors on data center decisions.
• Execute detailed designs for large-scale initiatives with IT stakeholders and delivery partners.
• Ensure operational readiness through planning, coordination, and execution of performance tuning and upgrades.
• Provide expert guidance during production incidents to support rapid resolution.
• Develop and maintain engineering guidelines and schedules for efficient delivery.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture to maintain roadmaps and standards.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure solutions align with design specifications.
• Present new technologies to IT and leadership across forums.
• Mentor engineers with technical direction and knowledge sharing.
