Job summary

Blue Cross NC in the United States is seeking an experienced Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to design and operate complex data center and cloud infrastructure, including networks, compute, storage, and telephony.

Responsibilities include lifecycle management, capacity planning, and ensuring SLA compliance, with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability across on-premises and cloud environments. A strong background in ITIL/ITSM is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs supporting network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database solutions.
• Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning to ensure infrastructure capabilities meet SLAs.
• Define and maintain hardware and software performance standards for scalability, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Serve as an infrastructure SME, providing deep technical guidance on emerging technologies and vendors.
• Lead and contribute to licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter technologies.
• Consult with IT partners, stakeholders, and vendors on data center decisions.
• Execute detailed infrastructure designs for large-scale initiatives with IT stakeholders and delivery partners.
• Ensure operational readiness through planning, coordination, and execution of performance tuning, support, incidents, and upgrades.
• Provide expert guidance during production incidents to support rapid resolution and stability.
• Develop standardized engineering guidelines, procedures, and schedules to streamline delivery and efficiency.
• Build partnerships across enterprise architecture to maintain roadmaps and standards.
• Collaborate with vendors to align delivered solutions with architectural intent.
