Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to design and optimize data center and cloud networking, compute, storage, and telephony solutions across on‑premises and AWS environments.

The role partners with IT teams and vendors to ensure SLAs, security, patching, and capacity planning, while contributing to architecture roadmaps. This hybrid-flex role is based near the Durham headquarters with remote options and a strong Total Rewards package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree; or 7+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of experience in data center infrastructure or related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop complex engineering designs for network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware and database solutions.
• Own and maintain technology currency and capacity planning in support of SLAs.
• Define hardware and software performance standards.
• Serve as infrastructure SME, providing expertise in emerging technologies with strategic vendors.
• Contribute to licensing, budgeting and capacity activities for efficient datacenter management.
• Provide operational readiness through planning, coordination, and execution of performance tuning and incident response.
