Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks a Senior Technical Contributor on the Supply Chain BI & Data Science team. You will own the architecture and strategy for high-use supply chain data models in Databricks and for the self-serve analytics platform built on top of them.

This role blends deep data modeling with architectural ownership and mentorship of a growing engineering team. You will partner with the Enterprise Technology data platform, define data contracts, and guide governance,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines and data models.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Deep experience with Databricks or similar lakehouse platforms.
• Experience partnering with a centralized enterprise data platform team and managing data contracts.
• Strong experience architecting solutions on AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue, ECS/EKS, RDS, API Gateway).
• Proven experience with Git-based CI/CD workflows (GitLab preferred) and modern software engineering practices.
• Ability to mentor engineers and lead cross-functional technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own the primary supply chain data models in Databricks.
• Own the strategy and architecture for self-serve data and semantic layers.
• Partner with ET's data platform team to define data contracts.
• Define data modeling standards, data quality, and governance across consumers.
• Guide architecture of AWS-hosted internal apps and self-serve analytics tools.
• Set engineering standards for GitLab CI/CD and VS Code-based development; mentor team members.
• Explore and integrate AI-assisted tooling to scale self-serve capabilities.
• Act as technical liaison between supply chain leadership and engineering.
• Ensure end-to-end data model and metric coverage across procurement, inventory, logistics, etc.
