Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area to lead customer-facing data and AI solutions on the Databricks Platform. You will own architecture, drive design decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This role blends engineering rigor with business impact, requiring strong client empathy, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to travel to meet customers.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Experience with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and expertise in at least one.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade data and AI projects by architecture to deployment.
• Design reference architectures and build data ingestion and ML/AI model integration.
• Guide transformational big data projects with customers and engagement managers.
• Ensure secure, scalable architectures aligned with Databricks best practices.
• Embed with customer teams and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Contribute accelerators and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
