Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with customers in San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. You will own end-to-end data/AI solution delivery, from architecture to production-grade implementation, across data engineering, AI, and application development.

The role emphasizes customer empathy, cross-functional collaboration, and scalable design. Travel ~20% is expected, with hands-on delivery and impact-driven outcomes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of production end-to-end data architectures and applications.
• Experience delivering technical projects to enterprise clients and managing scope/timelines.
• Willingness to travel ~20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer technical projects and deliver reference architectures and data/ML integrations.
• Guide strategic customers in end-to-end data and AI deployments withDatabricks best practices.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver measurable impact.
• Own architecture decisions to ensure secure, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and support to drive rapid issue resolution.
• Create accelerators, frameworks, and best practices for reuse across accounts.
