Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work with customers on data & AI challenges using the Databricks Platform. You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires engineering depth, curiosity, adaptability, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable outcomes. Travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks.
• Experience with two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Experience delivering technical projects with measurable outcomes.
• Travel to customers ~20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer projects with reference architectures and data pipelines.
• Guide transformational big data projects from design to deployment with customers.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects to drive adoption of Databricks.
• Lead architecture decisions ensuring secure, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, PM, and customer teams to deliver engagements.
• Provide feedback to product and support to resolve issues quickly.
• Embed with customer teams and communicate with stakeholders from ICs to executives.
• Contribute accelerators and best practices that scale across accounts.
