Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to build and productionize data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems across data engineering, AI, and application development.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires strong engineering expertise, curiosity, and the ability to translate complex concepts into scalable solutions. Up to 20% travel is expected to work with enterprise clients.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with two or more major Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep experience with Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• CI/CD for production deployments.
• Knowledge of MLOps and ML/AI models.
• Design and deploy production, end-to-end data architectures involving pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces.
• Experience delivering technical projects with measurable outcomes.
• Documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management.
• Willingness to travel 20% and Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design decisions for production-grade data and AI solutions.
• Deliver reference architectures, custom apps, data ingestion and model integration.
• Partner with engineering, product, and customer teams to meet engagement goals.
• Provide feedback to product and support teams for rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams and translate needs into actionable solutions.
• Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices to scale impact.
