Job summary

Databricks in Chicago invites an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer to architect, design, and implement production‑grade data and AI solutions for clients. You will own the architecture, drive technical decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI and application development.

You will work closely with customers to understand needs, embed with teams, and ensure secure, scalable outcomes while delivering value and measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of production end-to-end data architectures combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces.
• Experience delivering technical projects for enterprise clients with measurable outcomes.
• Documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Travel to customers ~20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead production‑grade systems, reference architectures, custom applications and data ingestion for clients.
• Guide strategic customers in end‑to‑end big data and AI project design, build and deployment.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects to ensure successful adoption of Databricks solutions.
• Lead architecture decisions to ensure secure, scalable outcomes aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with Databricks engineering, project managers, architects and customer teams to deliver engagements.
