Job summary

First Interstate Bank in Missoula, MT is seeking a Credit Analyst III to independently evaluate and underwrite complex commercial credits, including CRE, C&I, hospitality and municipal borrowers. You will analyze financial statements, projections, and reports to assess creditworthiness and risk, partnering with Commercial Relationship Managers to support loan activity.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret financial statements (tax returns, balance sheets, P&L, etc.).
• Experience spreading historical and projected financials to assess creditworthiness.
• Strong underwriting and risk evaluation skills with policy compliance.
• Ability to mentor junior analysts and support credit policy adherence.

Responsibilities

• Reads, reviews, and interprets a variety of financial statements and collateral documents.
• Prepares financial spreads for commercial and real estate borrowers and guarantors.
• Independently analyzes credit worthiness and determines risk ratings and structures.
• Composes a comprehensive analysis report combining data visuals and written narrative.
• Mentors junior analysts and supports training programs in underwriting.
