Job summary

Hoist & Crane Service Group in Birmingham, AL seeks a Senior Technician, a heavy equipment mechanic specializing in crane modernization and repair. The role requires comfort with on-call, after-hours service, and traveling to customer sites to troubleshoot and upgrade hoists and cranes.

You will lead field technicians, perform OSHA inspections, and communicate with management and customers to improve service quality.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of crane repair experience or 3-4 years electrical/mechanical experience in lieu of crane repair & maintenance experience.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background (DISA) and submit to random and annual drug testing as required.
• Must have a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
• Must always commit to working and driving safely.
• Must be willing to work off the ground at various heights.
• Must have basic computer skills to work with web-based crane inspection programs.
• Must be able to communicate well with others and work independently or as a team.
• Knowledge of hand tools and/or possess hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to be on-call and provide after hour services as required.
• Troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and upgrading industrial hoists and cranes in the field at customer locations.
• Train and mentor field technicians
• Perform OSHA required hoist and crane inspections and generating inspection reports and repair orders.
• Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager during the day so that work can be scheduled and completed on a daily basis.
• Consult with customers regarding all repair and safety related issues and discuss recommendations that will assist the customer with improving their services.
• Maintain all company issued equipment, vehicle, and assets in a safe and proper working order.
• Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Notify immediate supervisor of any deficiencies.
• Maintain supply of HCSG forms and miscellaneous materials in the company vehicle.
• Maintain the ability to work with others in team environment.
