Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an Associate Senior Counsel to handle a caseload of predominantly moderate to higher exposure insurance defense matters in the Massachusetts region. You will apply trial experience, perform in-depth legal work, and mentor junior staff while delivering value to insured clients and claim partners.

This role emphasizes independent caseload management, strong writing and advocacy, and collaboration with experts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Aptitude for trying cases to a jury; proven track record of jury trials.
• Strong technical knowledge and the ability to explain complex information to diverse audiences.
• Proficient oral and written advocacy with record of summary judgment/appellate success.
• In-depth knowledge of bench, bar, and local jurisdictional practices.
• Leadership through mentoring and collaboration with colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload of predominantly moderate to higher exposure cases, including Major Case matters.
• Conduct advanced legal research and prepare persuasive motions, briefs, and pleadings.
• Draft substantive documents and attend court events, depositions, and hearings.
• Provide case analysis and strategic recommendations to insured clients and partners.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony for litigation.
• Mentor junior attorneys and legal support staff; support office goals.
