Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in Hartford, CT is seeking an Associate Senior Counsel to handle a caseload of predominantly moderate to higher exposure insurance defense matters, including Major Case matters depending on line of business. You will apply trial and negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for Travelers' insured clients and mentor junior attorneys.

Responsibilities include proficient legal research, drafting pleadings and discovery, attending court events and depositions,

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international degree; graduate of an accredited law school.
• 4 years experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license in good standing in the state(s) of representation.
• Regularly handles hearings, trials, dispositive motions and depositions with ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload of moderate to higher exposure cases, including Major Case matters.
• Apply trial and negotiation skills to try cases or reach resolutions.
• Conduct thorough legal research and deliver persuasive writing and presentations.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions and other appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and partners.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff; share knowledge and updates.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
